On 1 October 2026, Campus France Bangladesh opens the Études en France platform to students in this country. From that date, a Bangladeshi student cannot enrol in a French higher-education institution or obtain a French student visa outside it. The same day, the DAP window for first-year university places opens — and closes on 15 December 2026. For anyone aiming at the 2027-28 academic year, the calendar just became very short.
Bangladesh is one of the 75 countries where the Études en France procedure is mandatory. You create an account, build one dossier, pay a Campus France fee, sit an individual interview at Campus France Bangladesh in Dhanmondi, choose from the offers you receive, and only then apply for the visa — at a 50% reduction on the France-Visas fee. PhD applicants are outside the procedure entirely. And a Bangladeshi apostille is not accepted by France, which objected to Bangladesh's accession — your documents still need MOFA legalisation plus embassy sur-légalisation.
Is Études en France compulsory for Bangladeshi students?
Yes. Campus France's official list of countries where the procedure applies runs to 75 countries and territories, and Bangladesh is on it. The wording on the same page leaves no room: "If you live in one of these countries, the 'Etudes en France' procedure is mandatory to enroll in French Higher education. It is conducted online, from the enrollment request to obtaining a visa."
Three consequences follow immediately, and each one catches somebody out.
- You cannot use Mon Master. The national master's platform is for students in non-EEF countries. Bangladeshi applicants apply through Études en France instead.
- A CampusArt application does not replace it. Campus France states plainly that CampusArt "does not replace the 'Etudes en France' procedure in the countries where that applies."
- PhD applicants are outside it. If you are enrolling in a doctorate, the procedure does not apply — you contact doctoral schools directly and apply for a talent passport visa instead. This one is worth repeating, because agents routinely push PhD candidates through the wrong door.
What is the 2027-28 calendar, exactly?
Two parallel tracks, depending on what you are applying for. For first-year university entry, the DAP — Demande d'Admission Préalable — is mandatory for non-European students and is completed inside Études en France.
| Track | Opens | Closes | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Études en France | 1 Oct 2026 | — | Rolling |
| DAP (year 1, university) | 1 Oct 2026 | 15 Dec 2026 | By 30 Apr 2027 |
| Parcoursup | Dec 2026 | Apr 2027 | Jun–Jul 2027 |
| CampusArt | 1 Oct 2026 | 28 Feb 2027 | Varies |
| Mon Master | Not for you | — | — |
On the DAP, note what happens after the offer: your three chosen universities examine the application simultaneously, responses come before 30 April 2027, and you must reply before 31 May 2027. Campus France states that if you do not answer before 31 May, "the absence of answer will be considered as a refusal." Terms in France generally begin in September or October.
Two Campus France pages carry different DAP closing dates: one says 15 December 2026, the other 15 December 2027. Only the 2026 date is internally consistent — registrations open 1 October 2026 and university responses arrive before 30 April 2027, which cannot work with a December 2027 close. Work to 15 December 2026 and confirm with Campus France Bangladesh. We are flagging the contradiction rather than choosing silently, because a student who works to the wrong date loses a year.
What are the steps, in order?

How much money do you have to prove?
€877.50 per month. Not €615 — that figure is still repeated across the Bangladeshi market and it is out of date. The current requirement is stated three times on the French public-service page for student residence: for the first year, for renewal, and in the supporting-documents list. Its legal basis is CESEDA article R422-7.
Over twelve months that is €10,530, or roughly ৳14.7 lakh at €1 ≈ ৳140.02 on 29 September 2026 — our arithmetic, not a French figure. France accepts several forms of proof: a scholarship certificate from the paying body, a third party's identity documents plus bank attestations of programmed regular transfers or a sworn statement of payments reaching €877.50 a month, or a bank attestation of a sufficient credit balance. Where there are multiple sources, you attach proof of each.
One exemption exists and it is narrow: the resources condition does not apply if you passed the entrance examination of an institution that has signed an agreement with the French state.
What does a year in France actually cost?
These are the 2026-27 figures. France sets them annually by ministerial order, so 2027-28 figures are not yet published — plan on these and expect a modest revision.
| Item | Amount | In taka |
|---|---|---|
| Licence, differentiated | €2,902 | ৳4.06 lakh |
| Master, differentiated | €3,950 | ৳5.53 lakh |
| Licence, standard | €178 | ৳24,900 |
| Master, standard | €255 | ৳35,700 |
| Doctorate | €398 | ৳55,700 |
| CVEC | €105 | ৳14,700 |
| VLS-TS validation | €100 | ৳14,000 |
| Private institutions | €6,000–18,000+ | ৳8.4–25.2 lakh |
The CVEC — the student life and campus contribution — is compulsory before you enrol, and the attestation must be obtained even by those exempt from paying. Scholarship holders of the French government are exempt, as are refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection.
For years the standard reassurance in the market was that most French universities waive the differentiated fee, so a non-EU student pays the standard €178 or €255 rather than €2,902 or €3,950. That changed for 2026-27. France's official student portal states that from the 2026-2027 academic year, institutional exonerations "are limited by a ceiling set by the regulations" and "may concern at most 30% of students subject to differentiated fees", under Décret n° 2026-385 of 19 May 2026. Students already exonerated in 2025-2026 keep it to the end of their cycle at the same institution. Anyone starting in 2027-28 is competing for a capped pool. Budget on the differentiated fee and treat a waiver as upside, not as a plan.
Will your apostille work for France?
No — and the French Embassy in Dhaka says so in writing. France objected to Bangladesh's accession to the Hague Apostille Convention on 23 January 2025, and the embassy's own page states that apostilled Bangladeshi documents "ne sont pas recevables en l'état par les autorités françaises" — not acceptable as they stand. They must still be legalised by Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then sur-légalisés by the French Embassy in Dhaka.
The operational details are unusually strict, and they are where files die:
- The document must be less than one year old — and less than six months for a birth certificate
- Originals, with the civil-registry officers' original signatures, recently legalised by MOFA
- An e-apostille covering several documents at once will not be sur-légalisé — it must name the document types, the issuing authorities and the signatories
- A French translation is compulsory, and if done in Bangladesh it is accepted only from the Alliance Française de Dhaka or the Alliance Française de Chittagong; if done in France, only from a court-listed sworn translator
- Chancellery fees are payable in cash, in taka, at a rate confirmed when your appointment is confirmed
- Appointments run Sunday to Thursday, during normal embassy hours
Read that rule again, because it is the single most Bangladesh-specific fact in this guide. If your transcripts are translated into French anywhere in Bangladesh other than the Alliance Française de Dhaka or Chittagong, the embassy will not accept them. Neighbourhood translation shops in Dhanmondi and Motijheel produce work for other embassies every day; for France, it is refused. The same page also records, drily, that there is no French-speaking doctor and no French-speaking lawyer in Bangladesh.
Do you need to speak French?
Not necessarily to study, but the answer is more layered than either side of the argument admits. Campus France Bangladesh's own FAQ says English is widely spoken in French institutions and laboratories, and that "you do not necessarily have to speak French inside university campus." Test centres for DELF, DALF, TCF and TEF exist in Bangladesh at the Alliance Française branches in Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Uttara and Chittagong.
What matters legally is this: neither the Études en France procedure nor the visa sets a minimum French level. The dossier is "1 single file with language tests, if necessary" — the level is set by the institution you apply to, not by the platform. So the honest answer to "what French do I need?" is: whatever your chosen programme demands, and nothing more.
Who can actually apply from Bangladesh?
Campus France Bangladesh publishes eligibility rules that are stricter than most people expect, and they are worth reading before paying anyone a consultancy fee.
- For a bachelor's: you must have completed SSC, HSC and at least two years of a bachelor's degree
- For a master's: your bachelor's must be in the same field — "He cannot have studied one field (medicine) and apply for a master in another field (business)"
- Teachers and professors can apply, but must show a work certificate from a university
What happens after you graduate?
France offers the carte de séjour "recherche d'emploi / création d'entreprise", the RECE — 12 months, not renewable, €75. It is open to holders of a licence professionnelle, a master's or equivalent (including an engineering degree, IEP degree or veterinary diploma), a Mastère Spécialisé, or an MSc accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles. It lets you look for work and work legally for its validity, or set up a company in your field.
It can also be applied for from abroad, at a French consulate, within four years of obtaining the qualification. One Bangladesh-specific detail: countries with migration-flow agreements — Gabon, Benin, Tunisia, Mauritius, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and India — still use the older APS. Bangladesh is not on that list, so Bangladeshi graduates use the RECE.
During study itself, the VLS-TS "étudiant" permits 964 hours of work per year, which is 20 hours a week, and gives access to VISALE, France's free rent-guarantee service. The visa must be validated online within three months of arrival, for €100.
France is a destination where the compulsory step and the useful step are different things. Campus France runs the platform, the fee and the interview, and nobody — no consultancy, ourselves included — can substitute for any of that. What a family actually needs help with is everything around it: whether the degree matches the master's, whether the funds evidence will hold at €877.50 a month, and whether the documents are on the right legalisation chain before the December window closes. That is the work, and it has to start now rather than in January.
What we could not verify, stated plainly. The Campus France Bangladesh fee amount is not published anywhere on its site; the official answer routes to bangladesh@campusfrance.org, and we quote no figure. Nor is its refund policy or exactly what it covers. The VLS-TS student visa fee is also unverified: france-visas.gouv.fr and legifrance.gouv.fr both blocked our requests on 28 September 2026, and service-public.fr explicitly refuses to state an amount. The 50% EEF reduction is official; the base figure it applies to is not something we could read. No official French source reachable from here names a visa centre operator for Bangladesh, so we make no claim about where files are lodged — confirm with visas.dacca-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr. Campus France Bangladesh publishes no opening hours; appointments are by email. 2027-28 tuition and CVEC figures are not yet published — all euro amounts above are labelled 2026-27 and are set annually by ministerial order. Campus France's own pages give the EEF country count as 75, another as 73, and service-public.fr as 72, whose regional table omits Bangladesh altogether; Campus France operates the procedure and its list, plus the Dhaka launch notice, is the operative one. All taka conversions are our arithmetic at €1 ≈ ৳140.02 on 29 September 2026. Read 28 September 2026.

The December window is the whole year. Let's use the time properly.
Études en France opens on 1 October 2026 and the DAP closes on 15 December 2026 — about ten weeks for the dossier, the interview, the funds evidence and a legalisation chain that France makes harder than most. Bring us your transcripts and your budget and we will map it week by week, before the window narrows.
