Morocco Student Visa from Bangladesh 2027-28 Guide

There is a Moroccan government scholarship that pays your tuition, gives you a monthly stipend, flies you there and flies you home at the end. It is real. And a Bangladeshi student cannot apply for it directly, cannot pay an agent to apply for it, and cannot approach a Moroccan university about it either.

It goes through your own Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That single fact reorganises everything about the Morocco student visa from Bangladesh, because the cheapest way into Morocco is not a visa route at all — it is a diplomatic one.

Which Moroccan mission handles Bangladeshi student visa applications?

We cannot tell you with confidence, and we would rather say so than guess.

Commercial visa directories such as VisaHQ and EmbassyPages list an Embassy of Morocco in Dhaka. We could not confirm that on any Moroccan or Bangladeshi government source. Bangladesh's own Ministry of Foreign Affairs page for Morocco returned an error when we checked it, and the Moroccan mission website covering India lists honorary consuls for Indian states only — with no Bangladesh entry.

What is not in doubt is the visa category. Bangladeshi nationals are visa-required for Morocco, and study beyond 90 days needs a long-stay student visa issued by a Moroccan diplomatic or consular post — followed by residence regularisation once you land.

Can you study in Morocco on the e-visa?

No. Morocco operates an e-visa, and its own published terms limit it to tourism or business, single entry, a stay of up to 30 days, and state that it does not allow applying for residency in Morocco. Eligibility is also conditional — the categories generally require a residence permit in certain countries, or a valid multiple-entry Schengen, US, UK or Canadian visa.

So for most Bangladeshi applicants the e-visa is not merely the wrong document; it is one they would not qualify for anyway. If a consultancy mentions Morocco's e-visa in the same breath as your degree, that is a signal to slow down and ask which visa category they are actually applying for.

What does it cost to study in Morocco?

This is where Morocco splits in two, and the split is the most useful thing on this page.

The English-medium route is Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, which follows an American model and teaches in English. It publishes its international rates openly: undergraduate international tuition at MAD 3,360 per credit with a normal load of 15 to 17 credits, and graduate international tuition at MAD 4,200 per credit with a normal load of 12 credits. Admitted students also pay a confirmation and pre-registration deposit of MAD 10,000, of which MAD 5,000 is non-refundable.

Morocco's cheap route is French-medium and public; the English-medium route is not cheap.

Do the arithmetic on a full undergraduate load and you are looking at roughly MAD 50,000 to 57,000 in tuition per semester before housing. That is not a budget destination. Al Akhawayn also publishes housing separately — single rooms quoted around MAD 16,000 to 17,811 and studios around MAD 24,885 to 25,893.

Al Akhawayn publishes its main international fee table as an image file rather than as text, and we could not read the figures inside it. The per-credit rates and deposits above are the ones stated in the page text. Ask the Business Office (obs@aui.ma) for the current full table in writing before you budget. The university also notes that fees are subject to change each academic year at the discretion of its Board of Trustees.

Two further details from that page are worth knowing. International applicants only qualify for the much lower Moroccan tuition if a parent is Moroccan, or if both parents have lived and paid Moroccan income tax for more than five years — which will not apply to a Bangladeshi family. And payments from outside Morocco are directed through Western Union to a named individual at the Business Office. That is what the university publishes, but wiring money to a named person is exactly the shape a scam takes, so confirm the instruction directly with the university on a number you found yourself before sending anything.

How does the AMCI scholarship actually work?

The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation runs Morocco's government scholarship programme for students from partner countries, covering bachelor's, master's and doctoral study at Moroccan public universities, higher institutes and vocational training centres.

The mechanism is the important part. Applications are submitted through diplomatic channels under the cooperation agreement between Morocco and the student's own country. You do not apply to AMCI. You do not apply to the university. Your country's foreign ministry nominates you, and the nomination travels to AMCI through official channels.

Reported benefits include a monthly stipend, an air ticket out and a return ticket on completion, health insurance and a thesis grant for master's and doctoral students. We are not quoting a stipend figure or a number of places, because the figures circulating online appear to come from a partner country's own national portal rather than a general AMCI publication, and allocations are set country by country. Whether Bangladesh currently holds an allocation at all is something we could not verify — and it is precisely the question to put to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

What language will you actually study in?

French, in most cases, and this is the deciding factor for most Bangladeshi students.

Morocco's public higher education system runs largely in French and Arabic. Even the AMCI scholarship expects applicants to have some command of French, with selected candidates taking French courses at the International Language Centre in Rabat before beginning their programmes. English-taught provision exists, but it is concentrated in private universities and selected graduate tracks.

The honest conclusion is uncomfortable and worth stating plainly: in Morocco, cheap and English do not overlap. The affordable public route requires French. The English route at Al Akhawayn costs real money. A student who wants both is looking at the wrong country, and should compare Mauritius or South Africa instead.

1Decide the language question first. If your French is not workable, restrict your search to English-taught programmes and price them honestly.
2Confirm the language of instruction in writing from the programme page — not from an agency summary.
3If pursuing AMCI, contact Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs about whether a Moroccan scholarship call is open and how nominations are made.
4Secure admission and obtain the acceptance letter.
5Establish which Moroccan mission takes your long-stay student visa application, by telephone, before travelling anywhere.
6Build the visa file: admission, funds and sponsor evidence, accommodation, and any guarantor documents the post requires.
7After arrival, begin residence regularisation for the student carte de séjour.

What goes into a Morocco student visa file?

Requirements vary by consular post and programme, and Morocco does not publish a single universal checklist for students the way some countries do. The consistent elements across student and researcher checklists are these.

  • Passport, application forms and photographs
  • Admission or enrolment letter from the Moroccan institution
  • Proof of accommodation in Morocco
  • Proof of financial support — sponsor letter, income evidence, bank statements, relationship proof
  • Guarantor documents where the post requires them
  • A study plan letter explaining the choice of Morocco and the programme
  • A commitment to regularise residence status after arrival
  • Apostilled academic certificates

Note the absence of a published proof-of-funds threshold. Morocco does not print a single figure the way the UK or Australia does, which means your file is judged on whether the sponsorship story is coherent — a sponsor with a long, explicable income history and a funding plan matched to the city and housing you have named. Money that appears in an account a month before submission reads badly everywhere, and it reads badly here.

Can you work or stay on after studying in Morocco?

Do not assume either. Moroccan residence status is purpose-based, so a student card is not a work permit, and there is no automatic post-study work route of the kind students are used to hearing about. If work matters to your plan, treat it as a separate question to resolve with your institution's international office and the local authorities after you arrive — not as something bundled into the student visa.

Will Morocco accept apostilled Bangladeshi certificates?

Yes. Morocco is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention and is not among the states that objected to Bangladesh's accession, which entered into force for Bangladesh on 30 March 2025. Your certificates can be apostilled at home instead of going through full consular legalisation. Expect to need sworn French or Arabic translations on top of the apostille for most public institutions.

So is Morocco worth considering?

For a specific kind of student, genuinely yes. If you already read French, Morocco offers a large public university system at low cost, in a Muslim-majority country with real academic depth in engineering, business, public policy and languages, and useful positioning between Europe, the Gulf and West Africa. If you can win an AMCI place, the economics become better than almost anything else in our queue.

For everyone else the maths is harder than the marketing suggests. No confirmed mission in Bangladesh. No published funds threshold. No guaranteed work rights. A cheap route that runs in a language most Bangladeshi students do not have, and an English route priced like a private university because that is what it is.

What we see at Eduvisa is that Morocco comes up when a student has been told "Africa is cheap" without anyone separating the countries. It is not one market. Morocco's costs depend almost entirely on which of its two systems you enter, and students who pick the wrong one discover it after they have paid a deposit.

If affordability and English both matter to you, read this alongside our guides to Mauritius and South Africa — both teach in English and sit in a similar cost tier.

This post is blog research for Bangladeshi students. It is not a statement that Eduvisa currently processes applications for Morocco. Several points here — including which Moroccan mission serves Bangladesh and whether Bangladesh holds an AMCI allocation — could not be verified on a government source and are flagged as unconfirmed above. Verify with the Moroccan mission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before you act, and speak to us before you pay anyone.

Told Morocco is a cheap option? Let's check which Morocco they meant.

Bring us the university and the programme. We will confirm the language of instruction, read the real fee page with you, and tell you honestly whether the affordable route is open to you — or whether another country fits your French, your budget and your plans better.
