Every year around late August, a version of the same conversation happens in our office. A student walks in holding an offer letter for a September start that is now four weeks away, and asks how quickly the visa can be done. The honest answer is that the calendar decided this months ago. The UK intake calendar for 2027 is not one deadline — it is five separate clocks, and three of them run backwards from dates you cannot move.
For the UK intake calendar 2027, Bangladeshi students should note three fixed dates: UCAS undergraduate applications for 2027 entry could be submitted from 1 September 2026; the Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary deadline is 15 October 2026, 18:00 UK time; and the main equal consideration deadline is 13 January 2027, 18:00 UK time. The Student visa can be applied for from 6 months before your course start date.
This guide sets out the full UK intake calendar 2027 for Bangladeshi students — every UCAS date, the visa window, and the two Bangladesh-specific clocks (the TB certificate and the 28-day bank balance) that quietly decide whether a September 2027 start is realistic for you. All dates below come from UCAS and GOV.UK, checked on 7 August 2026.
When do UK applications open for 2027 entry?
They are already open. UCAS opened undergraduate applications for 2027 entry on 12 May 2026, and completed applications could be sent to UCAS from 1 September 2026. The search tool started displaying 2027 courses on 28 April 2026.
That gap between "open" and "can be submitted" catches people out. From May you can build the application, write the personal statement and collect your reference — but nothing reaches a university until the September window opens. If you are reading this in August 2026, you are in the ideal drafting month, not a late one.
The UCAS application fee for the 2027 cycle is £34.50 (roughly ৳5,750 at today's rate). That single fee covers up to five university choices — or six for a conservatoire — and it also covers UCAS Extra and Clearing later in the cycle. You do not pay again per university, and you do not pay separately to enter Clearing.
What are the UCAS deadlines for 2027 entry?
There are two application deadlines, not one, and then a long tail of reply and decision dates that most Bangladeshi students never hear about until they are stuck in one. Here is the full published cycle.
| Date | What happens | Who it hits |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Sep 2026 | Completed applications can be submitted to UCAS | All UG applicants |
| 1 Oct 2026 | Conservatoire music deadline, 18:00 UK | Music applicants |
| 15 Oct 2026 | Equal consideration date, 18:00 UK | Oxbridge, medicine, dentistry, vet |
| 13 Jan 2027 | Equal consideration date, 18:00 UK | Most undergraduate courses |
| 25 Feb 2027 | Extra opens | No offers, all 5 used |
| 31 Mar 2027 | Providers aim to have sent all decisions on on-time files | January applicants |
| 5 May 2027 | Decline by default if you have not replied | Offer holders |
| 30 Jun 2027 | Last submission before automatic Clearing, 18:00 UK | Late applicants |
| 2 Jul 2027 | Clearing opens | Unplaced applicants |
| 23 Sep 2027 | Final date for any 2027 entry application | Absolute cut-off |
Two details are worth pausing on. First, UCAS describes both 15 October and 13 January as equal consideration dates — universities must treat everything received by then equally, and they may still look at later applications if places remain. In practice, for Oxbridge and medicine, 15 October behaves as a hard wall. Second, the reference must be completed before the application can be sent; a supervisor or college principal who is slow in December is the single most common reason a Bangladeshi file misses 13 January.
When can a Bangladeshi student actually apply for the UK Student visa?
From 6 months before your course start date, if you are applying from outside the UK. GOV.UK states this plainly, and it is the number to hold on to, because a great deal of advice circulating in Bangladesh says three months.
The three-month rule is real — but it applies to people applying from inside the UK. Applying from Bangladesh, your window opens six months before the course starts. For a 20 September 2027 start, that means roughly 20 March 2027. Anyone telling you to wait until June is costing you three months of buffer for exactly nothing.
UKVI usually decides Student visa applications from outside the UK within 3 weeks. You may be offered a paid faster service when you apply. The fee is £558 — about ৳92,950 — plus the healthcare surcharge, which is widely reported at £776 per year of visa length for students (that figure is from secondary sources and worth confirming on the GOV.UK healthcare surcharge page when you pay).
Arrival is also regulated. You may enter the UK up to 1 month before your course starts if the course is longer than 6 months, or 1 week before if it is shorter — but never before the start date printed on your visa, whatever your course dates say.
Should you target September 2027 or January 2027?
September is the main intake for undergraduate study and it is the one UCAS is built around. January exists mostly at postgraduate and at post-1992 universities, and it is not part of the UCAS cycle at all.
That is the piece almost nobody explains: UCAS deadlines only govern undergraduate applications. If you are applying for a master's, there is no national deadline. You apply directly to each university, most of them assess on a rolling basis, and popular courses simply close when they fill. A January 2027 master's start typically means applying between roughly September and November 2026 — but that is course-specific, and the only reliable source is the individual university page.
A January start gives you an extra four months to build the 28-day bank balance, sit IELTS again if a band came in low, and get the TB certificate timed properly — without the September crush at the visa application centre. The trade-off is fewer courses, fewer scholarships, and a graduation date that sits awkwardly against UK graduate recruitment cycles. Which side wins depends entirely on your file, and that is genuinely a conversation rather than a rule.
When should you take your TB test and English test in Bangladesh?
The TB certificate is the most under-planned document in the whole timeline, because it has an expiry date that runs against you.
If you are coming to the UK for 6 months or more and you have lived in Bangladesh for 6 months or more, you need a tuberculosis test. The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of your chest X-ray — so a test taken too early expires before your visa is decided, and a test taken too late delays submission. The sweet spot is to test once your CAS is close, not when you first get an offer.
The Home Office accepts certificates only from its own approved clinics. In Bangladesh there are five, and one of them is newer than most agents realise:
- Chattogram — Green Crescent Medical Diagnostic, Khan Plaza, 1407 SK Mujib Road, Agrabad
- Dhaka — Green Crescent Health Services, 60 Park Road, Baridhara Diplomatic Zone
- Dhaka — IOM Migration Health Assessment Clinic, UN House, Road 88, Gulshan 2
- Sylhet — Green Crescent MediLab, Time Square Building, Shibgonj Point
- Sylhet — IOM Migration Health Assessment Clinic, Medi-Aid Heart Centre, Dorga Moholla
Published fees: Green Crescent charges Tk 5,500 for age 11 and above and Tk 3,500 below 11, with Tk 14,000 for further investigation. The IOM clinics charge USD 70 and USD 30, payable in Taka at IOM's own exchange rate. Green Crescent's Dhaka and Sylhet clinics state that no pre-appointment is required.
Money you do not get back: every one of these clinics states that the test fee is non-refundable if you test positive, decide not to travel, or your visa is refused. The fee also does not include treatment. Fees and addresses were correct on GOV.UK when we checked on 7 August 2026 — the clinic list is updated periodically, so re-check the page before you go.
English is the other dated document. Most universities want a valid test at offer stage, which for a September 2027 start means sitting it in late 2026 or very early 2027 — early enough that a weak band can be retaken without touching the visa window. We generally advise students to plan for the possibility of a second attempt rather than assume the first one lands.
When does your money need to be in the bank?
This is the clock that quietly eliminates the most applications, and it is a 28-day clock, not a 28-day suggestion.
You must show either £1,529 per month for courses in London or £1,171 per month outside London, for up to 9 months, on top of your first year's tuition. The money must sit in the account for at least 28 consecutive days, and the end date of that 28-day period must be within 31 days of the date you apply.
At today's rate of about ৳166.58 to the pound, nine months of maintenance is roughly ৳17.6 lakh outside London and ৳22.9 lakh in London — before tuition. That is the figure to work backwards from when families plan the transfer.
GOV.UK publishes a "differential evidence requirement" list of around 60 countries and territories whose nationals do not have to prove they hold the maintenance money. Malaysia, Malta, the Republic of Cyprus, Singapore and China are all on it. Bangladesh is not. That means a Bangladeshi applicant must submit full financial evidence in every case — so any advice modelled on a friend's Malaysian or Chinese classmate simply does not transfer.
What does the 2027 timeline cost, and when do you pay?
Spreading the cost is easier when you know which month each item lands in.
| Item | Cost | When |
|---|---|---|
| UCAS application | £34.50 (~৳5,750) | Sep–Dec 2026 |
| English test | Varies by provider | Late 2026 |
| TB test | Tk 5,500 or USD 70 | Near CAS stage |
| Student visa fee | £558 (~৳92,950) | From 6 months out |
| Healthcare surcharge | £776/yr (reported) | With visa payment |
| Maintenance in bank | £1,171–£1,529/mo | 28 days before applying |
What is the correct order of steps for a September 2027 start?
Now to December 2026 — shortlist and submit
Finalise five UCAS choices, get the reference completed, submit well before 13 January 2027. If Oxbridge or medicine is on the list, 15 October 2026 is your real deadline.
Late 2026 to early 2027 — English test
Sit it early enough that a retake is possible without disturbing the visa window.
Spring 2027 — offers, replies, deposit
Reply by the deadline UCAS gives you, pay the tuition deposit your university asks for, and start the accommodation search.
From roughly March 2027 — the visa window opens
Six months before your course start date. Request the CAS, position the 28-day funds, book the TB test.
Summer 2027 — submit, then fly
Expect a decision in about 3 weeks. Enter the UK no more than 1 month before your course starts, and never before your visa start date.
What goes wrong most often on the Bangladesh timeline?
What we see at Eduvisa is rarely a weak student. It is almost always a scheduling collision — three documents that each individually made sense, arranged in an order that could not work.
- The TB certificate taken in January for a September start, expiring before the visa is filed
- Funds moved into the account 20 days before applying, not 28
- A reference not completed in time, so the UCAS file misses 13 January
- Waiting for "three months before" and losing the March–June buffer entirely
- Assuming the CAS can be reused — universities generally treat it as valid for 6 months and usable for one application only
- Booking a flight for early September when the visa start date is later
- Planning a master's around UCAS dates that do not apply to postgraduate study
