Cyprus Intake Calendar 2027: Deadlines for Bangladeshi Students

A student in Uttara asked us in July which month she should "aim for" in Cyprus. She had read that Cyprus has a September intake, so she planned to start her paperwork in June. By then, for a September start, the door had already closed — not at the university, but at the visa desk. Cyprus publishes friendly-looking semester dates, and almost nobody publishes the deadline that actually decides whether you fly.

When does the Cyprus 2027 academic year actually start?

Cyprus runs two full semesters plus a summer session, and the dates are published a year ahead. Taking the University of Nicosia's official 2026–2027 calendar as the reference point: Fall classes begin Monday 28 September 2026, Spring classes begin Monday 8 February 2027, and the Summer sessions begin Monday 14 June 2027. The pattern repeats, so a Fall 2027 start lands in late September 2027 again.

What the calendar makes obvious — and what listicles skip — is that registration and fee payment happen weeks before classes. For Spring 2027, UNIC's English test, registration and payment window runs 7 January to 5 February 2027, with orientation for new students on 5 February and classes from 8 February. You are expected to be in Cyprus, with money paid, before that window closes.

Dates from the University of Nicosia academic calendar 2026–2027. The 2027–2028 calendar was not yet published when we checked on 10 August 2026, so the Fall 2027 row is our projection from the published pattern, not an official date.

Which Cyprus intake should a Bangladeshi student target in 2027?

For most Bangladeshi applicants the honest answer is Fall, with Spring as a genuine second chance rather than a consolation prize. Fall carries the widest choice of programmes and the fullest scholarship rounds. Spring is smaller but real — a February start gives students who finished HSC results late, or who lost a semester to a document problem, a way back into the same academic year without waiting twelve months.

The summer session is a different animal. It is short, intensive, and built mainly for students already enrolled who want to clear courses. It is rarely a sensible first entry point from Bangladesh, because the whole visa chain has to complete during Bangladesh's monsoon administrative season for a mid-June start.

What is the real application deadline for the Cyprus intake calendar 2027?

European University Cyprus states it plainly on its visa requirements page: non-EU students must submit their visa documents to the university at least three months prior to the beginning of the semester. That is the deadline students should write on the wall. For a late-September 2027 start, that means the file is with the university by around late June 2027. For an 8 February start, it means early November.

Three months is also the reason Cyprus feels deceptively relaxed and then suddenly impossible. There is no single national portal with a countdown clock, so nothing warns you. The university simply cannot lodge your case with the Civil Registry and Migration Department in time, and you are quietly moved to the next intake.

Cyprus deadlines run backwards from day one — and several of them expire while you wait.

Why do Cyprus document deadlines expire before you use them?

This is the part that costs Bangladeshi students an intake more often than any grade or bank balance. Cyprus universities do not just ask for documents; they put an expiry date on each one, and the dates do not match each other.

  • Police clearance certificate — must be issued no more than 6 months before you submit.
  • Bank letter — 6 months validity, and it must state the sponsor relationship.
  • Bank statement — UNIC gives it 1 month validity; EUC asks for the last two months of transactions.
  • Blood tests (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C) — 4 months validity.
  • Chest X-ray for tuberculosis — 4 months validity.
  • Passport — valid at least 2 years from the start of the semester you are joining.

Read those together and the trap appears. A bank statement with one month of life has to be produced, attested, couriered and accepted inside the same window in which the university is asking for the file three months before term. Students who do their medicals early — sensibly, they think — often find the four-month clock has run out by the time the rest of the file is ready, and they pay for the tests twice.

What does a Cyprus student visa file cost before you fly?

The fees are modest by UK or Malta standards, but they are front-loaded and mostly non-refundable, so they need to be in the plan from the start rather than discovered in month three.

Student visa fee€150With visa fileOfficial
Tuition on account€3,000Before visa file is sentOfficial
Funds you must show€7,000Bank letter + statementOfficial
Cash on arrival€2,000At the airportOfficial

At an indicative rate of about ৳142.8 per euro on 10 August 2026, the €7,000 you must evidence is roughly ৳10 lakh, and the €3,000 advance is about ৳4.28 lakh. Exchange rates move daily, so treat those conversions as a planning guide, not a quotation. The €140 immigration charge breaks down as €70 alien certificate, €55 residence permit and €15 entry permit, and EUC asks for it in cash after you land.

Does Bangladesh's Apostille change how you attest documents for Cyprus?

Yes, and this is genuinely new. UNIC's visa page notes that the attestation route differs depending on whether your country has signed the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. Bangladesh deposited its instrument of accession on 29 July 2024, and the Convention entered into force for Bangladesh on 30 March 2025, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs designated to issue the apostille.

In practice that means guidance written before 2025 — including advice still being repeated by agents and forum posts — describes the older chain of legalisation. Documents must still be in English, and where translation is needed it must be done by an approved translator and properly attested. Because universities update their internal checklists at different speeds, confirm the exact attestation format your specific university wants before you pay for anything.

Cyprus is not in the Schengen area, and the 7-versus-10 day question on registering after arrival is answered differently by different official-looking sources. Fees, deadlines and validity periods also change without announcement. Verify every figure here with your university's admissions office and the Civil Registry and Migration Department before you act on it.

What happens in your first days after landing in Cyprus?

The visa story does not end when you board. The entry permit issued in Cyprus — students call it the Blue Slip — is what gets you through the airport, and the actual residence card is issued afterwards.

  1. Carry the file in your hand luggage. The Blue Slip, payment receipts, bank transfer receipts from your bank in Bangladesh, your acceptance letter and your passport.
  2. Bring €2,000 in cash. EUC lists this as an arrival requirement, and entry is through Larnaca or Paphos international airport.
  3. Open a Cyprus bank account and deposit at least €2,000 after arrival.
  4. Complete registration and payment at the university — the temporary residence permit is only issued once this is done.
  5. Give biometrics at the Civil Registry and Migration Department for the residence card, and pay the €140 immigration charge.
  6. Keep health insurance active — it must be renewed with every annual registration, not just once.

How should a Bangladeshi student build a Cyprus 2027 timeline?

Work backwards from the first day of class, not forwards from today. Fix the semester start date, subtract three months for the visa file deadline, then place each document so it is still valid on that date — medicals no earlier than four months before, bank statement as late as possible, police clearance within six months.

What we see at Eduvisa is that students rarely fail on eligibility. They fail on sequencing: the medical done in January for a file submitted in June, the bank statement dated too early, the sponsor who turns out to be an uncle. Those are all fixable problems if someone looks at your specific dates before you spend money — and expensive ones if nobody does.
