Kazakhstan Student Visa from Bangladesh 2027: C9 Guide

Read one sentence from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University's own memo to admitted foreign students and the whole picture changes: "all documents must be translated and notarized in Kazakhstan!" — their emphasis, not ours. A line below it: "all medical certificates must be issued in Kazakhstan!"

If a consultancy in Dhaka is preparing your notarised translations and your medical file before you fly, that work may simply not count. Understanding this early is most of what makes the Kazakhstan student visa from Bangladesh workable rather than expensive.

What is the C-9 visa and who needs it?

The C-9 is Kazakhstan's study visa. KazNU states it plainly: all international students except citizens of CIS countries must obtain a C-9, and only then travel to begin studies. Bangladesh is not a CIS country, so this applies to every Bangladeshi student.

It is normally issued for one academic year with multiple entries and renewed annually. Narxoz University tells its students to start renewal at least 30 working days, and no later than 14 working days, before expiry. Miss that and it is an overstay, not a queue.

One thing the C-9 is not: a work permit. Salaried employment in Kazakhstan sits under a different visa category, so "study and work in Kazakhstan" is a claim to treat carefully.

Why does the university want 100% of your tuition up front?

Because the invitation depends on it. KazNU's list of what it needs before requesting your one-year study visa invitation includes an admission order, the completed application form, a passport copy — and payment of 100% of the total tuition to the university account.

The invitation itself is cheap — KazNU puts the fee at about 2,500 tenge, which it describes as 0.5 MCI, roughly six dollars. The money at risk is the tuition, not the fee.

Timing matters too. KazNU says it takes at least 10 working days to issue the invitation after the enrolment order is signed, and asks for documents as early as possible. Narxoz gives a similar picture and asks for papers a full month before the semester.

Can you enter on a tourist visa and switch later?

No, and KazNU says so in terms: "Other forms of visa received before enrollment cannot be changed to a study visa on the territory of Kazakhstan."

Bangladesh does appear on Kazakhstan's electronic visa list, which is where the confusion starts. But that is a tourist-category permission, and arriving on it does not put you on the study track. It is the same trap we have documented for Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan: a genuinely easy short-stay visa being presented as a study route.

Why must your documents be notarised inside Kazakhstan?

Because the university says so, and it is the single most expensive misunderstanding in this process.

KazNU requires two notarised copies each of your diploma or certificate, transcript and passport, translated into Russian or Kazakh — and states that the translation and notarisation must happen in Kazakhstan. The medical file is the same story: certificate form 075-U, a copy of your preventive vaccination card and an AIDS test, all issued in Kazakhstan, with the university naming a specific Almaty address.

Almaty. A good deal of your paperwork can only be done once you are standing here.
What this means for your budget and your agent. Translation and notarisation done in Bangladesh may have to be redone on arrival. Ask any consultancy directly whether the documents they are preparing will be accepted by your specific university, and get the answer in writing. KazNU estimates around 10,000 tenge for notarised translation of education documents and a passport — budget for it locally rather than paying twice.

Note what is not on that list: the apostille. That one you do at home, and we come back to it below.

How much does a degree in Kazakhstan actually cost?

Kazakhstan is not uniformly cheap, and the spread is the point.

InstitutionKZT / yearApprox. BDT
KazNU — nursingfrom 500,000≈ ৳1.2 lakh
KazNU — most programmes1.1 – 1.6m≈ ৳2.6 – 3.7 lakh
ENU — 2026 cycle1.6 – 1.9m≈ ৳3.7 – 4.4 lakh
Nazarbayev UniversityUSD 15,000≈ ৳18.3 lakh

Most KazNU programmes sit between 1.1 and 1.6 million tenge a year, with General Medicine and Dentistry near the top of that band. L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University runs slightly higher for its 2026 cycle. Nazarbayev University charges USD 15,000 for 2026/27 — roughly ৳18 lakh a year, which is not a budget destination by any measure.

Conversions are ours, at roughly 525 tenge and ৳122 to the dollar. Both rates move.

These are reported figures, not fee letters. The institutional numbers above come from a Kazakh public-information publisher's July 2026 survey and Nazarbayev University's own site. KazNU's own "cost of education" page is still headed 2022–2023 and links fee tables as PDFs from 2023–2024. Every current-sounding Kazakh medical tuition figure we found traced to Indian agent aggregators rather than a university notice, so we quote none. Demand a written fee letter for your programme and intake year.

Why do the fee figures you read keep going stale?

Two separate forces, and both work against you.

First, official fees are priced in Monthly Calculation Index units, and the MCI is reset by law every 1 January. For 2026 it is 4,325 tenge, up from 3,932 in 2025. So a fee written in law as "30 MCI" rose about 10% on New Year's Day without the rule changing at all — which is why KazNU's site still converts a visa extension of 30 MCI to "≈ 212 USD" when the same 30 MCI is now around 129,750 tenge, closer to $247.

Second, tuition itself climbs fast. Kazakhstan's consumer price index for higher education services hit 110.8% in the first quarter of 2026 — a 10.8% year-on-year rise — and the index has stayed between 110% and 116% every year since 2022.

What must you do in the first two days after landing?

Report your arrival. KazNU requires foreign students to notify its Office of Internationalization and Recruitment within two days of crossing the border, carrying copies of passport, visa or residence permit and the border-crossing stamp, plus written confirmation of your address if asked.

Note that this is tighter than the general national rule — Narxoz tells its students the Migration Service must be notified within three calendar days. Follow whichever deadline your own university sets, because it is the one that will be enforced on you.

Narxoz adds a detail worth planning around: after leaving Kazakhstan for any period, even a few hours, you must re-notify within three calendar days of returning. For a student flying home to Bangladesh for Eid, that is a real obligation, not a formality.

Then there is biometrics. Under a 2018 government decree, since 1 January 2024 all foreign students must complete fingerprint and genomic registration at the migration service department of the police. A certificate is issued afterwards, and you will need it later when applying for visa extensions or a temporary residence permit.

Is there a Kazakh mission in Bangladesh?

This is the part we cannot settle for you, and we would rather say so than guess.

A Kazakh consular presence in Dhaka is described in places as an honorary consulate, while aggregator directories inflate it to a full Consulate General — and some of those same directories publish an Agrabad, Chattogram address under a "Dhaka" heading. Public records indicate neither country has a resident ambassador. Honorary consulates generally do not issue visas. Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi agencies actually running this route say they file Kazakh applications through the Embassy of Kazakhstan in India.

Unconfirmed — settle this before you book travel. We could not verify from any Kazakh government source whether a visa-issuing Kazakh mission operates in Bangladesh. Treat New Delhi as the likely filing point and budget for an Indian visa, but write to the mission and get the answer before committing. Narxoz puts it bluntly: going to the wrong consulate for your country of residence is the applicant's own responsibility.

Do Bangladeshi documents need an apostille?

Yes — and unusually, the destination university says so itself. KazNU's document list specifies your diploma or certificate "(with apostille)", which removes the ambiguity you get with most countries.

Kazakhstan is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention and did not object to Bangladesh's accession, effective 30 March 2025, so the apostille route works. You will also need nostrification — formal recognition of your qualification — or at least a certificate showing you have submitted documents for it.

What about MBBS in Kazakhstan and BMDC?

Kazakhstan is marketed hard to Bangladeshi families as a cheap medical route, so this needs saying plainly.

The Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council requires an Eligibility Certificate before a student begins a medical degree abroad, and its published requirement list asks for the MBBS/BDS Admission Test admit card and result sheet — meaning the Council expects you to have sat Bangladesh's own national medical admission test. Returning graduates must additionally pass BMDC's Registration Qualifying Examination before practising here.

None of that is a Kazakh rule, and no Kazakh university will raise it with you. It is a Bangladeshi gate, and it closes behind students who were never told it existed.

Is Kazakhstan worth it for a Bangladeshi student?

For the organised student, yes. A large, established higher-education system, a clearly defined visa category, a university that publishes its requirements in unusual detail, a working apostille route and mid-range tuition make a reasonable case — particularly against destinations charging four or five times as much.

The frictions are real though: full tuition paid before any visa exists, documents that must be redone on arrival, an uncertain mission situation, fees that climb about 10% a year, and deadlines measured in two or three days rather than weeks.

What we see at Eduvisa is that Kazakhstan rewards students who build a calendar and punishes those who improvise. The paperwork is not difficult, but it is unforgiving about sequence and dates — the invitation lead time, the arrival deadline, the renewal window. Students who map it out at the start tend to be fine. Students who meet each requirement as it arrives tend to lose a year somewhere.

This post is blog research for Bangladeshi students. It is not a statement that Eduvisa currently processes applications for Kazakhstan. Visa rules, fees and university deadlines change — and Kazakh fees change every January by design. Verify every figure with the official source before you act, and speak to us before you pay anyone.

Been asked to pay a full year's tuition up front?

Before that money leaves Bangladesh, let us go through the institution, the invitation timeline and what your documents will actually cost once you land. Especially worth doing if the plan involves medicine — the BMDC question is the one students discover far too late.
